Government of Maharashtra's 'Disha Abhiyan' is designed to address unique developmental, educational, and therapeutic needs of children with disabilities in Primary section of Chetana Vikas Mandir.
Our Primary groups develop basic academic & functional life skills in Special students through:
Teaching adapted to reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Inclusion of visual aids, tactile tools, and hands-on activities.
Introduction to vocational concepts through simple tasks.
Support for developing social and behavioral skills.
Students acquire basic knowledge, improve communication, and participate without hesitation which are primarily identified as educable and trainable, as explained below.
Educable (Mild Intellectual Disability)
Students with mild intellectual disabilities are able to acquire elementary level and can be independent and mix in society.
Basic academic skills: Reading, writing, simple arithmetic.
Social skills: Understanding social norms and mixing with the society.
Vocational skills: Simple job training for assisted or independent work.
Our students learn to read simple texts, perform basic math, and needs minimal supervision.

Trainable (Moderate Intellectual Disability)
Students with moderate intellectual disabilities learn basic self-care, social behaviors, and practical life skills through repeated training and assistance, such as:
Daily living skills: Eating, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
Social adaptation: Following basic instructions and routines.
Simple tasks: Engaging in sheltered or supported work environments with supervision.
Our students may learn to dress themselves with assistance, or follow a simple daily routine.
